The Product Properties section is by far the largest and most comprehensive section of any listing. It contains vital information such as your Products name and SKU and other identifying information. It's so important that we decided it deserved its own article. Today, we will take a look at the EasyChannel Product Properties page and how to fill it out completely and correctly. We will show you what each field is and explain what it's used for so you can make the best decision on what's required for the items in your catalog.

Product Properties Screen

  • The Product Properties Screen is the first screen you encounter when you Create a Product from your Product Catalog.

  • You can also reach an item's Properties page by selecting the Pencil icon from the Action pane.

  • Here is what a blank Product Properties Screen looks like.

Product Name

  • The first thing we need to fill out on our Properties screen is our Product Name.

  • Once our Product is named we can move on to the Identifiers section.

Identifiers

  • The Identifiers section help us give our product properties that make it easy for different systems and processes (both internal and external) to identify and track our product.

  • Not every identifier is necessary or useful for every business and product. So let's go through them and find out what they all are and why we would want to use them. Let's start with SKU.

  • A SKU is a number you as a business owner use to internally keep track of your products. You won't find a SKU listed on any of your products, as it has to be a system designed by you to track your inventory. You can use our SKU Generator to create SKUs for your products.

  • Above us is the UPC field. This field is required for many selling platforms, primarily in the U.S. You can find the UPC of your item underneath the barcode. It will be 12-digit number. Products without UPCs can be left blank.

  • The ASIN, or Amazon Standard Identification Number Field is next. This only applies if your product is in Amazon's Catalog. It will be 10 digit number. Required if selling on Amazon.

  • Next, we have the GTIN, or Global Trade Identification Number. This is a 14 digit number mostly used either internationally or for internal tracking. Let's explore GCID.

  • GCID, or Global Catalog Identifier, is the number Amazon assigns to a brand that has completed Amazon Brand Registry to then use to identify its products. Required for Amazon Registered Brands, but not for anyone else. Let's talk ePid.

  • The ePid, or eBay Product ID, is eBay's version of an ASIN and is also a 10-digit number. This is a required category for eBay listings. Next, we have EAN.

  • EAN, or European Article Number, is a 13-digit number, comparable to a UPC, used in Europe to identify products. It can be found underneath the barcode. Finally, let's discuss ISBN.

  • ISBN, or International Standard Book Number, is a 13-digit number used exclusively to identify books. This will be a required field for any book listings.

Condition and Category

  • Now that we have our Identifiers set, let's set our Condition. This will also be a required field for any marketplace, so setting it in your Product Catalog is very helpful. Accepted values are New, Used, or Reconditioned.

  • Choose your condition from the drop-down menu. You can also write in a condition note in the box provided if you wish. Now we have to set our Products Category.

  • Use the menu to select the corresponding Product Category. If you do not have Categories added yet, or need to learn more about Product Categories, click here.

Brand and Manufacturer

  • Our next section is Brand and Manufacturer. Let's start by setting our Brand in the field provided.

  • If we know the Manufacturer of our product, we can enter it in the space provided. If we do not know it, we can leave it blank.

  • Same principle applies to Model Number, it should be filled out if available, but can be left blank if it is unknown.

  • We can now move on to the Price section

Price

  • Next, we must set the Price for our Product. To do this we have to start by deciding what currency we will be using. For us, we will be using the US Dollar.

  • Now that we selected our currency, we can set our Price. You can also set a Wholesale and MSRP Price here as well, if you'd like.

  • After your Prices have been set, it's time to set the Physical Attributes of our Product.

Physical Attributes

  • The first thing we need to do in this section is determine how we will be measuring our Product.

  • We can then set our Product Weight.

  • Followed by its measurements. The measurements are entered in Length, Width, Height format.

  • Now we can add in our Store Product URL, if we have one, and finish up.

Store URL

  • The final thing we are going to do is add the Store URL of our product. If you don't have your product for sale anywhere yet this can be left blank.

  • Once this is done we can go ahead and use the Save button to save out changes and continue with our listing. For our full article on Creating a Product, click here.
