Most template fields copy a product field as it is. For everything else there are three tools: a Rule works out the value, a Lookup List swaps your value for another one, and Custom Specifics add item specifics that the channel's field list doesn't have. Start with Mapping Templates in EasyChannel Explained if you haven't set up a template yet.
In this article:
How do I use a rule?
A rule computes the value to send, optionally only for products that meet conditions. For example, a rule can send the product price multiplied by a number.
In the template, click the pencil in a field's value box and choose Rule.
Pick a rule under Select Rule, or click + Create New.
Click Set.
Create a rule
The Create New Rule window has:
Rule name and Description.
CONDITIONS: click + Add next to IF. The app notes: “If no conditions are specified, the output will be enabled for all products.”
OUTPUT: Text or Formula. Use + Insert variable to put product fields into the output.
LIVE PREVIEW: pick a product to see the result before you save.
Click Save. Rules belong to your account, so you can pick the same rule in other templates.
How do I use a lookup list?
The app describes it as “a type of data set that contains a list of values and allows you to match a certain value to another”. Its example: a product with the Color “Yellow” can be sent as “Gold-Tone”.
In the field's value box, choose Lookup List, then pick a list under Select Lookup List or click + Create New.
In Create Lookup List, type a Lookup List Name and a Description.
Under Selected Attribute, pick the product field the list reads.
Fill in each pair: the EasyChannel Value and the channel Value. Click +Add New Line for more pairs.
Set a Fallback for values that aren't in the list, or tick Keep original value as fallback.
Click Save, then Set.
How do I add custom item specifics?
Open the Custom Specifics tab of the template. The app explains: “Here, you can include custom item specifics to your eBay listings.” For example, “if the suggested item specifics for your product category doesn't include length, you can add "Length" as a custom item specific.”
Click Add New Specific.
In Add New Custom Specifics, type the Field Name (the item specific's name, such as Length) and set its Mapping.
Click + Add More Fields to add several at once.
Click Add, then save the template.
⭐ If a mapped custom specific has no value for a product, EasyChannel leaves it out of that listing.
What is on the Compliance tab?
The GPSR (EU product safety) fields: the product manufacturer's company name, address, email, phone and contact URL, product safety pictograms and statements, the repair score, and the EU-based responsible person's details. You map them like any other field.
To set GPSR details on many products at once, use Bulk Actions > Set/Update GPSR in the Product Catalog.
FAQ
Rule or lookup list?
Use a lookup list to swap one known value for another (Yellow to Gold-Tone). Use a rule to calculate or combine values, or to send something only when a condition is met.
Do I need a custom attribute for a custom specific?
Only if the value isn't already in a product field. See How to Use Custom Attributes in EasyChannel.
