A mapping template tells EasyChannel which catalog field fills each field of a channel listing. For example: the eBay Title comes from the product title, the eBay Picture Image 1 from the product's first image. You pick a template every time you publish.
In this article:
Where are mapping templates?
Open Product Catalog, then Products Settings > Mapping Templates.
Each row shows the template Name, its channel Account, the Listings Count that use it, a Description and the Create Date. Default Template next to a name marks the account's default.
The switch at the top, Let AI fill missing required fields, applies to all templates. The app explains: “When a required channel field has no mapped value, AI fills it while publishing. Turn this off to publish only the values you mapped - a product missing a required field fails with the channel error instead.”
How do I create a template?
Click Create Template.
Type a Name and, if you like, a Description (up to 255 characters).
Under Select account, pick the channel account.
Click Create. The template editor opens.
To start from an existing template instead, use Duplicate in its Actions.
How is the template editor laid out?
The top shows the Channel, the listing Type (for example Buy it Now) and the Template Name and Template Description, each with a pencil to edit.
On the left: Common (the main listing fields), Compliance (GPSR product safety fields) and Custom Specifics. Below them, eBay Categories.
The field list has the channel's Field Name on the left and the EasyChannel Value to send on the right. Fields are grouped, for eBay: Item Information, Identifiers, Media, Description, Pricing and Shipping and Size.
A red star and Required mark the fields every listing needs. Under each field name, a short text explains the field and lists its valid values when there are only a few.
Preview product... at the top right shows the values a real product would send. Pick a product from its list first.
How do I set a field's value?
Click the pencil in the field's value box.
Choose where the value comes from (see the table).
Click Set. Click Cancel to leave the field as it was.
Option | What it sends |
Product Attribute | A field of the product: a Product Property (title, price, image 1...), a Variation Type Value, the Current Warehouse or one of your Custom Attributes. |
Free Text | The same text for every product, for example a fixed brand or location. |
Rule | A value worked out by a rule, for example the price multiplied by a number. |
Lookup List | Your value matched to another value, for example the color Yellow sent as Gold-Tone. |
Some fields accept only a few valid values, listed in their help text. For example, Best Offer accepts True or False. Rules and lookup lists are explained in Rules, Lookup Lists and Custom Specifics in EasyChannel.
Title options
The eBay Title field has two extra options: Automatically shorten titles to up to 80 characters. and Rewrite longer titles with AI instead of cutting them off.
What is a fallback?
A fallback is the value EasyChannel sends when the main value is empty for a product. Click Set fallback (+) under a field. It shows Fallback active and opens the same value editor.
How do I map fields for one category?
Click a category under eBay Categories. The field list then shows Filtered By Category and that category's own item specifics, for example Brand, Item Condition and Type, with their recommended or valid values. Use the search box to find a category.
How do I save, duplicate or delete a template?
At the bottom of the editor: Close, Save Changes or Save Changes & Exit.
On the Mapping Templates page, the row Actions are Edit, Duplicate and delete.
A template that listings still use can't be deleted. Its delete tooltip says: “Please remove any assigned products from this template before deleting it.”
FAQ
Where do I choose the template when I publish?
In the Publish To Channel window, under Mapping Template. See How to Publish Products to a Channel in EasyChannel.
Will AI overwrite values I mapped?
No. The app says: “Values you set yourself - mapped attributes, fallback values in a template and data taken from the catalog product - are not affected.”
